The SFP module is designed for a Gigabit Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) with a transmission range of up to 20 km. The module includes a 1490 nm transmitter operating in continuous-wave mode and a 1310 nm receiver operating in pulsed mode. The transmitter uses a 1490 nm DFB laser and an integrated laser driver designed to be Class 1 eye-safe under any single-point failure. The laser driver includes automatic power control (APC) and temperature compensation functions, which ensure a constant optical output power and extinction ratio despite temperature changes and aging.
